About

Ariel Neff
I’m the Instruction and Science Reference Librarian at a mid-sized, private university in Illinois.  I have my B.S. in Chemistry and M.S. in Library Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  I serve as the liaison to our science faculty, provide scientific literacy and library instruction, and answer all sorts of reference questions.

In a former life I was a chemical lab technician for a large national corporation.  I was also a Graduate Assistant at the UIUC Library Conservation lab for two years.  I repaired, mended, and built custom enclosures for special collections and circulating items.  I  am still honing these skills by treating my current institution’s damaged materials.

I am a lab rat and a science nerd.  I knit, read, and play video games.  I love to cook, but I love to eat even more.

My plan is to use this blog for a variety of purposes that will hopefully be interesting for librarians, scientists, students, and anyone who thinks science is AWESOME.
